“Three words come to mind when I think of Keith: leader, mentor, and organizer. I would work with him on any project because he shares a vision of moving forward and he brings people together.” – Jeremy Blake, Past Board President, Newark City Schools
Expecting an upcoming levy to be defeated, Newark City Schools brought on Keith Richards as interim superintendent. He would make the necessary cuts after the defeat, then help hire a new superintendent. Instead, Keith built a community-based consensus. He involved employee unions, political leaders, parents, staff, and the business community. The levy passed by the largest yes vote margin in the school system’s history. The district gave Keith a long-term contract. Two years later, he led another successful bond. This one funded six new schools and additions and renovations at five schools.
Keith helps district leaders build community consensus for construction projects. With forty years of experience in Ohio public education, he prioritizes district and student needs. He has served as superintendent for eight districts, and led over $250 million in school construction.
Keith is a die-hard Ohio State fan; he’s held season tickets for over 40 years!
